Barefoot running

without comments

This afternoon, I ran 3 miles on the Provo River Trail. I ran the first 3 miles in 28 minutes. When I finished, I decided to cool down with a mile long run around the grass, across the street- barefoot. I’ve always wanted to try it, but finally just did it. Felt like a kid again.

And a season comes to an end for the Sharks…

without comments

Just finished watching the game (delayed).  Sharks were swept in 4 games by the Chicago Blackhawks.  So we’ve got some work to do.  Not sure if San Jose will keep Nabokov.  I really like the guy and thought he was a great goalie, but who knows what will happen.

The Chicago Blackhawks are a great team.  They are faster, and seem to have better puck possession.  So good-bye to another year for San Jose.  We’ll just have to be better, next year…

Rodale spam

without comments

Rodale, for some reason, feels that if I subscribe to their magazine, Running World, I should be spammed, several times a day.  It breaks my heart that Rodale is the parent company for Runner’s World.  I love Runner’s World, but can’t stand how freaking commercial Rodale is.  I realize that the only reason that Runner’s World exists is because Rodale is a business, but seriously…  Let’s track their spam…

I’m going to give them a clean start and won’t tally retroactively (well, we’ll start at the 7th).

Total Rodale spam since May 17th, 2010:  7

So we’ll see if this really works.  So far, it feels like I’ve done this several times.

One World, Everybody Eats in SLC gets some love in the NY Times

without comments

I was browsing Google News, when I came across an article on a place in Missouri that is trying to incorporate a “pay what it’s worth” restaurant.  They’ve modeled the place off of One World, in Salt Lake.  Sort of cool and worth noting.

This blog o’ mine…

without comments

When I first started blogging 30 years ago (I wrote some great journal entries with the help of my mother, some of which actually ended up in this blog), I wrote about me.  I also wrote about my bird, my family, and church.  I wrote about whatever I told my mom to write down in my little pink, spiral-bound journal.

Now, I write about my family, hobbies, and any issue that I might have with the world.

Today, I considered that my blog might be too sporadic, scattered, and unfocused (scattered).  I’m not sure what to do about that.  Should I continue to write about whatever enters my head, or should I sort of narrow things down?  I could write about my experience in becoming a triathlete.  Or maybe I’ll just focus on my music or geek interests.  Honestly, I don’t know that I could commit to any one thing.  So the challenge is to somehow make this blog interesting enough to write, but also organized in some way so that my readers (and apparently there are some of you, according to my Wordpress Stats) can enjoy it, too.

This will be something that I focus on in the next couple of weeks.  I’m not into making money off of this blog (this is also what people can’t make money by writing a blog say).  I just want to have a place to organize my head and maybe even a place for folks with like-interests to come and learn a thing or two.  What do you think?
